Our Board

Heatherton Christian College is served by a volunteer Board. Each member brings expertise, passion and vision to the leadership of the College at the highest level. Each board member is a current or past parent of children at Heatherton Christian College.

Dan Faber (Chairman)

Dan has been a business owner for the last 10 years, investing in both online and traditional businesses, after spending the early part of his career in Sales and Business Management roles.  He brings solid operational and financial skills to the role of Board Chair, and his entrepreneurial approach is well adapted to problem solving.  Dan especially enjoys the challenge of finding peace and order in all circumstances – business, pastoral and spiritual.  Dan is President of a local charity that supports leaders and pastors locally and abroad.  Dan and his family are highly engaged in their local church and have taken active roles in overseas missions, pastoral care, worship team and ministry to young adults.

Shane Austin

Shane is the State Manager for homelessness services and statewide coordinator for social services for The Salvation Army in Victoria. He has significant not-for-profit management and governance experience, both in Australia and internationally. In addition, Shane has been closely involved with philanthropy’s contemporary response to affordable housing and homelessness; including being a member of government advisory panels. He was in senior management at RACV Ltd., where he operated RACV’s Community Foundation, and before that in senior management at the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation. Shane’s brings his experience and expertise in governance and leadership, in both business and Christian ministry, to the HCC Board

Peter Cliffe

Peter is the current Executive Principal of Heatherton Christian College (HCC) and Wyndham Christian College (WCC). Peter has been part of the HCC teaching staff since the school commenced in 1999, taking over as Principal in October 2001. He has over 30 years’ experience in education as a primary and secondary teacher in both the government and independent school sector, including the past 20 years as Principal in Christian schools. He has served two terms on the state council of Christian Schools Australia and is a member of the Australian Council for Educational Leaders and the Association of Independent Schools Heads of Australia. Over his career Peter has been an integral part of driving the pioneering of three new schools, which includes one government and two Christian schools. Peter is incredibly passionate about HCC and WCC and seeing every student succeed. Peter has always had a passion for seeing students learn outside the conventional four walls of the classroom. This has been demonstrated by Peter leading a team of Year 12 students on a missions trip to Thailand each year for the past 10 years.

Grant Scott-Hayward

Master of Business Administration

Bachelor of Commerce MBA

Grant is a Leadership and Strategy Coach and a Pay Equity Ambassador for the Workplace Gender Equality Agency. Previously he was Chief Executive Officer of a major Australian law firm. He has 25 years of leadership, executive and senior management expertise in professional services firms, having advised and worked with a large number of leading law and accounting firms. An advocate of values-based leadership, Grant has specialist expertise in strategy, organisational governance and performance, leadership development and culture transformation. He has held a number of external advisory roles following a background in management consulting.

Dr Dinukshi Daniels

Bachelor of Medical Science (University of Sydney) 

Bachelor of Dentistry (University of Sydney)

Dinukshi has been the principal dentist and owner of Aspendale Gardens Dental Care since its establishment in 2015. Prior to starting up her clinic, she worked for a number of years as a general dentist in both private and corporate dental clinics as well as working as a clinical tutor with the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Sydney. She is also a member of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons.

Dan is leading a large local church in south-east Melbourne with other congregations in Wyndham and Northcote. He is also the leader of a denomination with sixty churches in southern Australia. Dan has a broad experience in working with executive teams, managing leaders and setting vision and mission for Christian organisations. He is involved in supporting church leaders in Fiji, Turkey and South Sudan. He brings experience and passion for faith-based education.

Dishan Rajaratnam

Dishan brings general management and strategic business development skills from his 18-year tenure in NYK Group, Japan’s leading supply chain and logistics solutions company, having held positions as CEO of NYK Logistics Sri Lanka and State Manager Vic/Tas/SA of NYK Logistics (International) Australia.

Answering God’s call to a “purpose driven” career, he is passionate about Christ centred education and discipleship of children to achieve their full potential.

Phil has been in education for over 30 years, having fulfilled leadership and teaching positions in Government, Catholic, and Independent schools over this time. He has been part of the Heatherton Community now for 15 years and is passionate about helping the school to develop as a contemporary Christian school whose graduates are people of strong faith and Christian character – people of positive influence. In particular, Phil’s focus as Head of Campus, is to foster opportunities for students to gain the knowledge, skills and mindsets to thrive in an ever changing society whilst being grounded in their Christian faith. He is a member of the Australian Council for Educational Leaders (ACEL).
