Missions

Our mission trips program is a vital part of the development of the ‘whole child’ in each student’s Christway College journey. They provide so many memorable shared experiences. All students are encouraged to attend the mission trips throughout Senior School. Our established trips have offered mission and service experiences with marginalised communities nationally, locally and internationally at Years 10, 11 and 12 respectively.

Year 10 Mission Trip – “YWAM Townsville: Youth Adventures”

For our Year 10 Mission Trip we participate in the “Youth Adventures” program run by Youth With A Mission (YWAM) in Townsville, Queensland. The YWAM team have been outstanding and inspirational mentors to our students over the years.

Our school vision is ‘Growing in Christ, Striving for excellence, Influencing the world’. By Year 10 we want to encourage students to see themselves as being part of a world community, looking at the influence that they can have, especially as they look with Christ’s eyes and consider how God has grown, enabled and gifted them as they endeavour to serve with excellence.

Students commit themselves to learning and serving in a mission environment amongst a community who have a very different culture from what they are used to in suburban Melbourne. The students themselves will be trained and expected to participate in the mission activities, not just be observers.

It is hoped that this experience will see God impact our students through the context of servant leadership and mission, bringing long term blessing to the students and to those they serve in the process.

Year 11 City Mission Trip

The students spend time with a few different charity groups, learning about what they do and what some of the different needs in Melbourne are. They will also have opportunities to serve the people of Melbourne through activities such as soup kitchens, evangelism and random acts of kindness. This is a wonderful way for students to have the opportunity to make a valid contribution to the community of inner-city Melbourne. There will also be a mix of team building exercises, testimonies, worship, debriefing and sharing, along with the supervised ministry time in the city.
